Tricks and treats

by Yule Heibel on October 22, 2003

Since we’re getting close to Hallowe’en, here’s my favourite emblem. It represents a credo to journey by — one more step and you’re over the cliff, but man, what a ride!

“The Fool: Complete freedom and trust, new journey, lack of fear, wonder, adventure. Perfect love casts out fear.”

Well, that’s my little “occult” moment for the month. Like I said, it’s nearly Hallowe’en!

Well isn’t that interesting – The Fool has always been my favourite card. It doesn’t represent me, especially the older I get (that would be more like IX The Hermit :)), but rather what I would like to become more like. It is a desire to both manifest creativity and find one’s inner source of courage. It is a fascinating card and one, like XII The Hanged Man, XIIIDeath/Rebirth, XV The Devil/Pan, and XVI The Tower, that people most misunderstand. Of course the whole Major Arcana is easily misunderstood 🙂

My favorite Fool themed game. The original was a classic and the sequel should be good:

Haha, Doug, I think I’m a bit of a hermit now myself! (Bah, humbug, grumble grumble!) Ah, but to be the fool, eh? (I have to add that I really hate my little Tarot deck, which I got when I was about 16 — it’s a miniature version — and which I have never thrown away, but neither looked at in about 25 years, mainly because it always gave me such crappy fortunes, the fucking piece of crap cards!!!! So I put ’em in a shoebox and there they stay. 🙂

Mike, when I have a bit more time, I’ll have to check out that site you point to!

This whole thing was brought on by Jeneane Sessum at Allied with her post about blog anniversaries. I’m too “young” (sigh, how lovely) to enter my info, but it made me realize that my first real entry was April Fool’s Day, 2003 — is that appropriate or what? Keep thinking of Tim Buckley’s Look at the Fool, too! Fools fools everywhere!
