Yesterday morning I walked along the beautiful Lynn Shore Drive, from Swampscott’s big Pier Restaurant to Lynn’s Red Rock Park, around, and back again, and I noticed flags at half-mast. Took me half a second to understand why. Since I don’t have TV, nor listen to the radio much anymore, I’m not as consistently or constantly bombarded with “news.” Of course I had thought of 9/11 on 9/10 already. I even wondered about Phil R.’s widow and about how his small sons at the time would by now be grown men. And yet my mind wasn’t saturated with it.

Saturation seems to be the end goal, if you can call it a goal. It’s a kind of occupation (colonization?), I suppose. Amplify and saturate – that’s the battle plan. When Google / Youtube demonetize libertarian and/or conservative and/or counternarrative videos (and their makers), they’re trying to desaturate and deamplify those voices. It won’t do. But, grown men…
