So we leave for Hudson NY today.

A note on creative output. If I start writing again, it will be on my site, and my site only. I see all these other digital platforms as fast-food, whether Facebook, Twitter, Medium, what-have-you. Not lasting. Ditto for much of the Youtube content I consume, irrespective of how interesting it can be. It’s ephemeral – and some people know this, which is why they also still write books.

And then you have the people, some of whom I know, who dabble in ephemera again and again: is it a refusal to commit? Where does this inability to commit (and instead to indulge ephemera), which I recognize in myself as well, come from? At least in part it must come from not being believed as a child, for not being taken seriously, not having one’s dreams encouraged. That way, if you don’t commit, no one will show up like a smartass and say, “I told you so.”
