The day is starting out cooler than the previous ones this week, and it looks like it might stay that way. This is good, as far as I’m concerned. Yesterday I was foolhardy enough to go out in the broiling sun at midday to trim the lawn edges and weed between the driveway pavers and more. I looked cooked when I was done after an hour or more. My Central American crew seemed impressed with my ability to handle the vicious weed whacker without fear and with a relative sense of expertise, but I’m sure I frightened the younger one especially by my transformation into a boiled lobster. Yesterday the guys finished the deck and 99.999% of the painting. They have some cleaning up to do, and I’m still concerned by the gutter, which seemed still to leak just a bit. They should be able to wrap up today, though. I didn’t leave the house aside from yard work because all the doors stood open – they were freshly painted or in the process of being painted.

B. is off to Hornby Island today, for a week. I feel envious – of missing the island (yet again, story of my teenage life, continued!), a vacation, a friend.
