Came across a somewhat terrifying article in “Peak Prosperity” (a blog? an online magazine?), tweeted out by @caitoz (Caitlin Johnstone), about the major power shifts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and its turn to China. About how we could see a disastrous economic situation (by we, I mean us, here in the US especially) by the end of 2018 or early 2019. It was almost, if not entirely, full-on “prepper” mode stuff.
Sorta-kinda Trump-supporting comments on leftwing @caitoz’s tweet of the article tried to argue it was nonsense and written “from” and “for” the Deep State perspective – whatever that means, exactly. But whatever it does, I think it’s also pretty obvious that we’re going to go through some major power shifts – in our (US’s) relation to the KSA, in the latter’s to us and China and the continent of Africa, in power struggles involving Iran and Russia, too.
It’s really incredible what a mess this dependence on oil has wrought. Even getting off that dependence upsets balances of power, because of course dependence and independence both involve the money bags.
